Explore where the practice of council ends and living council begins.
This advanced workshop is for experienced practitioners who are ready to more deeply explore the three challenges of becoming a carrier of council: becoming a steward, reading the interactive field, and finding the ability to participate in and witness the process simultaneously.
going beyond facilitation
Living Council Training is an immersive residential weekend training intended for experienced council practitioners who have completed both foundations of council and deepening council trainings. It is for practitioners who have developed facility with the practice, and are discovering that they are called to go beyond occasionally facilitating council circles as an approach to group interaction.

- devotion to the practice
- reading the interactive field in council
- being able to simultaneously participate in and witness the process (including oneself)
A great deal of material is integrated, including exploration of energy field work, movement, sound, ceremony, and the relationship between nature and council.
what we cover
We cover concepts of emergence, complex adaptive systems, and collective wisdom in great depth, along with a science-based exploration of the nature of individual and group coherence -- and a space is created for the arrival of the unexpected.
N.B. We recommend that you have completed more than one foundations of council training, as well as deepening council training and have gained experience facilitating council before taking the living council Training.

As one deepens in this practice, the question arises: What is not council? Living Council Training offers an opportunity to unpack these critical and profound considerations and explore how the practice of council can be a powerful resource for our work in the world.
Lunch, coffee, and snacks are included.
Donations and program fees support Beyond Us & Them’s ability to offer transformative programming to incarcerated men and women, law enforcement, healthcare workers, educators and community leaders.
Fees are fully refundable within 7 days from the purchase date and can be transferred and applied to another training offered by Beyond Us & Them up until 30 days before the original event date. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable if canceled within 30 days of the training.

our trainers
Council Training workshops are led by two Certified Council Trainers. Our circle of certified trainers have extensive experience leading culturally competent, trauma-informed workshops and trainings in the practice of mindfulness and council.
All have demonstrated mastery of required core competencies and abide by a rigorous Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics, which provides guidelines regarding integrity, honesty, lawfulness, professional behavior and boundaries, conflicts of interest as well as a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
